Severn Trent Water
The Scotter STW asset renewal project included an inlet works, an oxidation ditch, a single FST, a sludge thickening facility, an RAS, SAS and washwater pumping station, a storm return pumping station, and a motor control centre.
Severn Trent Water standard specifications were used, although, as an innovation project, specifications that were out of date or unduly onerous were allowed to be challenged.
Alternative technologies were used to provide Capex and Opex savings.
The inlet works and pumping station were precast off site and fitted with all mechanical and electrical equipment. This meant they could be simply off loaded and installed with reduced health and safety risks.
Intelligent motor control centres, drives and instruments enabled remote access and diagnostics. This helped to reduce the need for operational and maintenance visits to site.
