The above photograph is taken on an installation in Blackburn, England, where Edwards Diving Services (EDS) piled four main piles into the river Darwen to house a floating skip. The purpose of the skip was preventing rubbish and debris, which was being illegally dumped, from creating damage along the length of the river.
As can be seen from the photograph, the skip was very successful. It is now a case of prosecuting the offending parties when their debris is being returned to them.
EDS has installed numerous booms on fast-flowing rivers, marinas, docks and golf courses. The companys partnership with Oil Pollution Environmental Control (OPEC) has developed over the years, taking EDS to the Middle East on a number of occasions.
The companys engineers have installed fixed equipment for industrial applications and attended emergency spill responses. More information can be found at www.opec.co.uk, or direct enquiries can be directed to EDS via this website.
