Project

Originally the Great Gidding STW site was screened with a 20mm bar screen. To renew the site's screenings capability, a 490 ACE Screener was mounted in a stainless steel prefabricated inlet with LS305 Liquid Separator Station and control panel mounted on a 3m-high gantry.

The inlet screen is pump fed from a 150mm feed pipe at up to 20 litres per second. The screener and prefabricated inlet are positioned on a gantry 20m from the original civil channel which remained fully operational during the civil and mechanical installation.

The screen discharges vertically back to the original channel (under a road) feeding the PSTs some 20m away, with the Liquid Separator Sation discharging the screenings into a bin below the gantry for easy removal.

Installation

The equipment was fitted to the gantry at Haigh’s factory and the platform lifted into position (10m horizontal lift) with a 30-tonne crane in one lift, with the legs and access stairs attached on site. The installation took 3 days.
