The site at Pitts Mills was originally not screened. A 991 ACE Screener was specified, and situated close to the original channel with the liquid separator station positioned 25m away, 3m lower with the screenings discharged into a skip allowing easy access for the skip vehicle.

A 991 ACE Screener is mounted in a stainless steel prefabricated inlet with LS305 Liquid Separator Station and control panel.

The inlet screen is fed from a 3.5m high balancing tank via a 300mm feed pipe at up to 55 litres per second. The screener and prefabricated inlet are positioned in a concrete bund within 1m of the original civil channel which was fully operational during the civil and mechanical installation.

The screen in its prefabricated inlet was lifted into position (30m horizontal lift) with a 30 tonne crane in one lift, with the installation taking 3 days.

A separate control panel with an HMI control the system positioned 2m from the screen for easy access.
