Challenge

The Shard, situated south of London Bridge and designed by Renzo Piano, is one of London’s most architecturally striking buildings, incorporating retail, offices, hotel, apartments, restaurants and a public viewing gallery. The building is located in the vicinity of one of central London’s largest hospitals, St Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital, and the London Bridge network rail station.

The building required water storage tanks from the basement to the 53rd floor.

Work done

Dewey Waters were involved within the project over a period of years due to the management and coordination of contractors. Many challenges were faced due to the unusual design of the building and the heavily populated and restricted area.

Dewey Waters manufactured and supplied one piece, hot press sectional and totally internally flanged (TIF) GRP water tanks.

Services included the supply, delivery, positioning / cranage and installation of the water storage tanks, levelling of steels, connections and radio communication.
