EloVac® methane capture technology captures the dissolved and microbubble Methane gas not captured during the digestion process which normally escapes into the atmosphere.

EloVac® is a compact system for the degassing of liquids such as digested sludge. In addition to enhancing sludge dewatering, the system can significantly improve the ecological footprint of treatment plants by avoiding uncontrolled methane emissions.

Operation

  • Step 1 - Digested sludge is continuously provided to the degassing tank via a control valve or pump.
  • Step 2 - In the degassing tank, a vacuum is created by a pump, and pressure and filling levels are controlled to predefined values. Gas is withdrawn under vacuum from the digested sludge.
  • Step 3 - The degassed, digested sludge is continuously discharged from the degassing tank by pump to the downstream sludge treatment step.
  • Step 4 - The withdrawn gas is provided to a gas system and can be used as a source of energy.
