ProAm is an online ammonia analyser providing continuous measurement of ammoniacal-nitrogen of a water or wastewater sample. ProAm is used throughout industry for compliance monitoring and intake protection.
Whilst the instrument is designed to measure samples containing suspended solids, a membrane panel filter is often fitted for final effluent and raw water applications to remove biological material and prevent long term bio-fouling within the instrument.
The design has proved to be very reliable in operation and low maintenance.
The instrument comprises:
- wall-mount analyser section with an integral sample pump
- a controlling processor interfaced by a membrane keyboard
- back-lit LCD
- electrical connections for power supply and signals externally made from separate IP65 enclosure (typically installed adjacent to analyser section)
Features and options
- Automatic calibration and chemical cleaning
- Programmable, continuous or intermittent measurement
- Use of ion selective technology with enhanced detection limit
- Local display and digital output for connection to telemetry
- Can be used on final effluent without sample preparation
- Can be configured for nitrate, chloride and fluoride measurement

Pollution & Process Monitoring (PPM)Proam ammonia analyser sales to three UK water companies Orders have been received from Severn Trent Water, Anglian Water and Wesssex Water to supply our Proam ammonia monitor for continuous final effluent discharge monitoring. Severn Trent Water have purchased six more Proam analysers whilst Anglian Water has selected the Proam analyser for...News, 15 June 2015 -
Ammonia analyser will help Anglian Water meet consent
Pollution & Process Monitoring (PPM)Anglian Water (AWS) has selected the Proam ammonia monitor to provide continuous ammonia measurement on final effluent discharge where accurate and reliable measurement is required. Stanningfield WWTW performs aerobic treatment in a surface aerated ditch to remove ammoniacal-nitrogen before discharging to a local watercourse. It will be subject to a new consent, imposed at 3.00mg/L NH4-N...Projects, 19 November 2015 -

Intake protection scheme, South East Water, Bray WTW
Pollution & Process Monitoring (PPM)The installation at South East Water's Bray WTW was engineered to continuously measure ammonia, dissolved oxygen and oil, at an abstraction point on the River Thames. The instruments were chosen for their ease of maintenance and high-quality measuring capabilities. Ammonia is a good indicator of water quality as it identifies the presence of...Projects, 02 November 2015 -
Final effluent ProAm ammonia monitoring at Wessex Water
Pollution & Process Monitoring (PPM)The Poole WwTW site was initially selected to test the ProAm ammonia monitor on final effluent, over a two month test period in 2004. The trial was a success and Wessex Water decided to make the installation permanent. Since making the initial installation at the UV disinfection plant, four additional ProAm monitors have been installed across the...Projects, 29 October 2015 -

Bran Sands WwTW ammonia influent monitoring kiosk
Pollution & Process Monitoring (PPM)The Bran Sands influent monitoring kiosk was supplied to Northumbrian Water in April 2007, and was sized to accommodate four ProAm ammonia monitors, which allowed space for additional instruments. All of the sample distribution was preformed using stainless pipework. Fused spurs were attached to each analyser and signals were wired to a common...Projects, 08 January 2018 -
Wessex Water picks ProAm ammonia for Yeovil installation
Pollution & Process Monitoring (PPM)Another ProAm ammonia monitor has been purchased for installation at Pen Mill WwTW in Yeovil. The site receives imported sludge and therefore is subject to varying load conditions. The decision has been taken to replace the existing, less accurate probe technology with the proven Proam analyser design, calibrating against known standards to...News, 23 September 2014
