Pressurised biofilm reactors
The Grundfos BioBooster PBR is used for reducing high levels of COD concentrations. It demonstrates higher organic removal rates per volume than any other biological technology.
The BioBooster PBR performs a continuous aerobic removal process with pressurised oxygen, rather than atmospheric air to increase oxygen concentration in the water - and thus the speed of the biological treatment.
Biofilm growth is controlled by a patented disc system that rasps off excess biofilm by means of a cycloidal rotating pattern between two different-size discs. The rasping principle ensures a uniform biofilm layer and maximum oxygen access to all microorganisms. The result is optimum conditions for the biological treatment process, and constant, high performance.
Furthermore, the disc system functions as a self-cleaning mechanism, which means that CIP is not required.
