Siltbuster - grit and silt removal

Siltbuster Limited leads the field in the provision of modular (& transportable) solids/liquid separation solutions for the treatment of solids laden water across a range of industries. We developed the Gritbuster System to Treat Highway Cleansing Residue & Gully Waste in a compact treatment plant, initially to reduce landfill tax costs but recycling is now a key requirement for most customers.

Mechanically collected roadwaste varies in both content and consistency and depends on the vehicle design, cleansing method, location, weather, and the time of year, but the bulk of it (up to 60 to 75%) is gravel and sand sized particles which can be reclaimed and put to beneficial use as an inert recycled aggregate whilst other materials eg. organics can be sent for composting thus removing it from the waste chain. Recycling also promotes waste minimisation, diverts waste from landfill and assists Local Authorities with their recycling targets.

The Gritbuster plant is unique and our innovative process provides an effective means of Washing, Separating and Dewatering the raw material components to maximise the recyclable materials, minimise the amount of waste material sent to landfill and reduce the associated costs.

The System accepts and treats the solids and the water and so negates the need for trucks to decant the collected water on route back to their depot or the need for dewatering bays and associated silt traps. Where the plant is put into an existing depot with dewatering bays, these can be used as storage areas to hold the material after processing.

The Gritbuster System cleans and recycles the water for washing. This can also be used for replenishing the vehicles, again increasing recycling rates.
