Prochem diaphragm seals, also known as gauge isolators, are designed to hydraulically isolate standard construction pressure gauges and switches from process lines carrying corrosive chemicals or sludges. This prevents corrosion or clogging of the sensing instruments.

The seal uses a diaphragm or sleeve and is prefilled with water or silicon oil. Chemical diaphragm seals are made to handle corrosive process fluids and are made from engineering plastics or exotic metals. These seals screw directly onto the process line and are supplied with pressure gauges or a pressure switch.

Features and benefits

  • Hydraulically isolates pressure gauges and switches from corrosive or clogging process streams

  • Prefilled with water or silicon oil for reliable operation

  • Made from engineering plastics or exotic metals for chemical resistance

  • Direct screw connection to process line

  • Standard 1/2? BSP process connection, with plain, screwed union, and flange options

  • Pressure gauges in 100 mm and 63 mm diameters

  • Dry gauges with damping mechanism to eliminate need for glycerine

  • Pressure switch options: normally closed, normally open, or DIN plug type

  • Customer-supplied switches or transducers can be fitted

Applications

  • Process lines carrying corrosive chemicals

  • Process lines with sludges that may clog sensing instruments

  • Systems requiring isolation of pressure gauges or switches from aggressive process fluids

Physical attributes

Pressure gauge diameters: 100 mm and 63 mm. Standard process connection: 1/2? BSP.

Other connection types: plain, screwed union, flange.

Materials

Engineering plastics and exotic metals.

Options and variations

Chemical or slurry type seal. Pressure gauge seal or switch type seal. Process line connection options: 1/2? BSP, plain, screwed union, flange. Pressure switch options: normally closed, normally open, DIN plug type. Customer-supplied switches or transducers can be fitted.

Performance

Hydraulically isolates pressure gauges and switches from process streams. Damping mechanism in dry gauges cushions the needle and removes the need for glycerine.

Installation

Seals screw directly onto the process line.
