With a surface area of 135m²/m³ Biofil has a spherical design and is suitable for applications where larger or greater voidage is required.
With purpose-designed features Biofil is an excellent alternative to traditional mineral-based media and is ideal for improved performance in new wastewater treatment plants. Biological filter media of the relevant dimensions can replace all or part of the mineral-based media to improve system efficiency where it has become impaired by overloading. The surface textures of Warden Biomedia enable biomass or bacteria to adhere more effectively to reduce loss of media due to installation procedures.
Modern plastic filter media eliminate problems relating to clogging and puddling associated with gravel, slag and clinker filter beds. Traditional biofilters using stones, slag or coke can easily be clogged after some time of operation. Modern technical solutions allow very high reduction of biogenic compounds. Reactivation and modernisation of old type biofilter treatment plants is much cheaper than reconstruction of the treatment plants.
Warden's biological filter media are feasible for both industrial and municipal wastewater and are used for organic removal, nitrification and denitrification.
