Context
Inspectahire was tasked by Spirit Energy to undertake an OGI (Optical Gas Imaging) inspection by UAV on the Ensign Platform in the Southern North Sea.
Project details
Based on a previous successful deployment in 2018 on the ST1 platform for Spirit, the team was transported by support vessel and sailed to the location.
On arrival, the team deployed the Sky Eye Mammoth UAV fitted with a FLIR GF320 optical gas imaging camera and carried out a detailed OGI inspection of the platform off all levels, checking for fugitive gas emissions, prior to the client deploying personnel to the installation.
Once the OGI task had been completed, and no FGEs had been detected, the Inspectahire UAV team carried out a full GVI (General Visual Inspection) of the platform, both OGI and GVI were carried out on one day shift period; all flight operations were carried out from the deck of the support vessel.
All work was completed in three days, including sailing time to the location and return to Great Yarmouth.
