The aerators will treat effluent water pre-discharge
Aquasystems will be supplying a total of 14 AER-SL 2200-24 floating aerators for installation at the Mogden Sewage Treatment Works. The units will be used to oxygenate the treated effluent water before it is sent to the River Thames.
Solution
The units were required to be customised in order to fit into a closed culvert trough with access opening in the roof. The floating system, guiding system, lifting system and cable guide were specifically designed for the application. The design emphasis for each item was on safety during installation and maintenance of the equipment.
During the design, Aquasystems also performed oxygen calculations to define the required power to increase the DO levels to the requested minimum values in different load conditions.
Outcome
The first 8 of the planned 14 aerators have now been installed. The aerators will be operated in the summer when the DO levels in the effluent are low.
