Modular microscreen for solids removal and product recovery. Offers a large filtering area in a small footprint for municipal effluent polishing and industrial water reuse.

Previously known as the Hydrotech Discfilter, over 50 improvements make it longer lasting, better value and more efficient. Re-named the Hydrotech Performance Filter (HPF), its improvements have reinforced it in the industrial and municipal markets as a go-to product for polishing and cleaning wastewater.

The self-cleaning HPF houses a greater number of discs with each having a 10% larger filtration area. The new version provides twice the capacity of its predecessor yet is more compact, making it perfect for organisations requiring solutions with smaller footprints.

Woven cloth filters are used on multiple discs to filter solids from the water, which are then cleaned via the counter-current backwash system. The units are used worldwide in many applications including stormwater treatment, membrane pretreatment, phosphorous removal, water reuse and wastewater filtration.

Applications

  • Recirculation systems

  • Effluent polishing

  • Fine filtration of intake water

Benefits

  • Sturdy, compact design

  • Cost-effective technology compared to sand filtration

  • Small footprint - 75% smaller than a traditional sand filter

  • Modular structure for flexible capacity

  • Continuous filtration with automatic backwash

  • Minimal maintenance, easy access

Operation

  1. The water to be treated flows by gravity into the filter segments from the centre drum. Solids catch on the inside of the filter panels mounted on the two sides of the disc segments.

  2. As the solids catch on the inside of the filter media impeding the flow of water through the disc, the water level inside the discs begin to rise, triggering a level sensor to start the disc to rotate, and a backwash cycle begins. Typically, the backwash requires 0,05-3% of the total filtered water flow.

  3. High-pressure rinse water washes the solids off the filter media into the solids collection trough.

Construction

Filter elements are made from fixed barrier woven polyester. Filter openings from 10 micron.
Available in 304 or 316 stainless steel.
