Product is introduced to the Comil®, normally under gravity but also in some applications using the Qvac vacuum transfer system, where it enters the milling chamber and is forced to the screen surface by the rotation of the impeller.
Product that is of the correct size passes through the screen whilst the remaining product is subject to a combination of impact, compression and cutting forces until it is sufficiently size reduced to pass through the screen openings.
The finished product is discharged from the bottom of the milling chamber.
Particle size can be optimised through selection of screens and impellers, as well as through the speed of the impeller.
