Mecana Pile Cloth Media Filter is a tertiary filtration system for wastewater treatment, designed for high-efficiency removal of suspended solids, phosphorus, and micro-pollutants. Made from OptiFiber® pile cloth with fibre diameters of 25microns (white) or 7microns (blue). Suitable for flows from 3l/sec in steel tanks, or up to 9,250l/sec in concrete tanks. Manufactured in Switzerland and the UK.

  • Tertiary filtration system for solids, phosphorus, and micro-pollutant removal in wastewater

  • Depth filtration mechanism achieves <5mg/l TSS and <0.1mg/l phosphorus

  • Continuous operation during backwashing with gravity flow and no external backwash system

  • Small footprint and easy cloth replacement

  • Low power and maintenance costs

  • Retrofit options for existing tanks

  • Drum, disc, and diamond filter variations for different flow rates

Applications

  • Tertiary filtration for suspended solids reduction after settlement tanks

  • Tertiary phosphorus removal with precipitation or flocculation

  • Micro-pollutant and priority substance removal

  • Alternative to fixed film biological treatment humus tanks

  • Pre-filtration for fixed bed nitrification

  • Storm overflow filtration

Options and variations

  • Drum filters for small to medium flows

  • Disc filters for medium to high flows

  • Diamond filters for very large flows or retrofitting

  • White OptiFiber® (25microns) for standard applications

  • Blue OptiFiber® (7microns) for higher performance

Performance

  • Handles flows from 3l/sec to 9,250l/sec

  • Achieves <5mg/l TSS and <0.1mg/l phosphorus with blue OptiFiber®

  • Operates with only 300mm head
