Pima County in Arizona is tackling public perception of water reuse in a unique way. It launched the 'Water Innovation Challenge', a competition aimed at attracting solutions for the sustainable water future of a town, city or region.
The winner, Pima County's Southwest Water Campus, is going to construct a mobile potable reuse water treatment system which will travel throughout Arizona, partnering with local wastewater facilities and brewers, to produce high-quality water and craft beer.
The system will incorporate UV disinfection technology provided by TrojanUV. The UV system will ensure that water being used in the beer making process is free of any microbes and contaminants.
The highlight of this project will be the 'Clear Water Brew Challenge', which will see each craft brew compete at the Annual WateReuse Symposium in Phoenix from 10-13 September 2017.
