Our advice is tailored to focus on the current situation(s) whilst considering long term commercial implications.
Whether you are looking to develop, sell, purchase or invest - we provide a personalised service to support and advise you along your chosen path.
What Soilutions Can Do For You?
The following are our most requested services, but we always tailor them to client needs.
- Phase 1 Desk Study
Also called a "Land Contamination Assessment" or "Preliminary Risk Assessment", they are an essential element for planning applications and purchase due diligence. Using current and historical records such as mapping, and usually combined with a site visit, the aim is to identify potentially contaminative sources and other contrainsts to development and derive a Conceptual Site Model to illustrate how sources may impact receptors such as humans or the wider environment
- Phase 2 Site Investigation
Here we use investigation techniques such as trial pitting or boreholes to gain information about the subsurface - helping to prove the existance (or otherwise) of environmantal constraints identified at Phase 1. Can also be combined with geotechnical testing.
- Coal Mining Risk Assessment (CMRA)
Examination of available coal mining records to identify what are the likely risks from underground workings at your site and what needs to be done to mitigate those risks (if anything).
- Qualitative Risk Assessment
Usually combined with the Phase 1 Desk Study, risks are identified and ranked
- Generic Quantitative Risk Assessment (GQRA)
Using data collected during the Phase 2 Site Investigation, measured contaminant concentrations are assessed against generic criteria to identify where risks could be an issue or whether they are unlikely to be.
- Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessment (DQRA)
Usually carried out where the GQRA identifies potentially significant risks - more detailed modelling is undertaken to help determine whether risk is significant and warrants some kind of remedial action.
- Ground Gas Risk Assessment
A Phase 1 will often identify ground gas as a potentially significant risk leading to the installation of gas monitoring wells at Phase 2. These wells are monitored to collect data and the results assessed to determine risk and any need for remedial action.
- Remedial Options Appriasal
Where the GQRA or DQRA identifies unacceptable contamination, the Remedial Options Appraisal looks at different methodologies to remediate the contamination and weighs up the pros and cons of each to determine the optimum solution for a site.
- Validation Reporting
Where remedial works are agreed and undertaken, the validation stage tests that such works have been carried out to the specification.
