The Aqualarm IRDi-485 point-of-use oil detector comprises two components: the detector module and the point-of-use detector, connected via a 1m jumper cable. Both are manufactured from STAREX General ABS (SD-0150) plastic. The detector module houses the electronic circuitry; the point-of-use detector houses the infrared transmitter / receiver, which extends from the bottom of the detector.

A reflective area (50mm diameter) must be painted on the floor with paint capable of reflecting light (eg standard white gloss paint).

The jumper cable is connected to the top of the point-of-use detector via a 3-pin plug and socket.

A red LED will glow to indicate an alarm condition. Alarm status and monitoring is via a single RS485 link to an i-Zone Mini control panel.

A stabilising bar, or PC-3 protection cover, is required, as a means of fixing the point-of-use detector to the floor surface.
