Requirement

Aquasystems International NV was contacted to urgently deliver and install temporary floating aerators at the United Utilities wastewater treatment works in Preston to allow the plant to keep running at full capacity.

Aquasystems has a fleet of over 200 aerator units available for immediate rental. This meant it was able to respond immediately to United Utilities' request.

Solution

Following Aquasystems' advice, United Utilities rented 8 high-speed floating turbines (AER-AS 55 kW), enabling installation in the orbal channels.

  • 8x 55kW Aqua Turbo Floating aerators were delivered, installed and commissioned in the existing orbal tank on a turnkey basis. 

  • Local isolator junction boxes were provided complete with cabling to provide power to each aerator.

  • Local isolators units with E/Stop connections were supplied and wired via V/F drives.

  • Star Delta connections were required. 

Outcome

Within a few days of the client’s call, the aerators were installed and fully operational, allowing the Preston plant to keep running at full capacity.

The additional oxygen provided by the aerators covered for the loss of several orbals due to maintenance issues and also allowed the works to treat waste water at peak flow conditions.
