Aquaturbo AER-AS is a high-speed floating mechanical aerator. It is used to mix and oxygenate wastewater and sludge in biological treatment systems.

AER-AS has a high efficiency ambient operated motor customised to Aquaturbo wet environment operating standards. The unit is constructed from stainless steel and consists of a one-piece float, a suction cone, and a two flight Archimedes style Screwpeller®.

The Screwpeller® generates a flat and large-diameter spray pattern maximizing the air-water contact zone. It is designed to transfer the kinetic energy to the water whilst achieving high performance in pumping and oxygen transfer. Due to its design, the forces on the bearings are very low, so standard bearings can be used and there is no need for a gearbox. This results in high efficiency and low maintenance and operating costs.

Easy to install, robust and reliable, the Aquaturbo AER-AS ensures efficient aeration and mixing for years of maintenance free service.

Installations range from small tanks to massive lagoons.

AER-AS is available for purchase or hire.

Key features

  • 100% Stainless steel construction

  • High oxygen transfer and dispersion

  • Effective mixing with no floc damage

  • Direct drive - no gearbox - so low maintenance

  • Simple installation and removal

  • Adaptable to fluctuating water level with cables & springs, mooring arms, or vertical guide posts with delta frame

  • Low-aerosol production and low-odour emission

Applications

AER-AS is adaptable to nearly any basin configuration.

With a lengthened intake cone section, the AER-AS can penetrate water depths up to 8m. This allows the unit to draw activated sludge of low oxygen concentration from the bottom of the basin to be transformed into an oxygen-rich surface discharge.

  • Aerated lagoons

  • Activated sludge processes

  • Aerobic digestion processes

  • MBR and SBR

How it works

The Aquaturbo® functions as an open pump. The mixed liquor of wastewater and activated sludge enters via the suction cone.

The Aquaturbo® SCREWPELLER® pumps the liquid axially up through the cylindrical pumphouse, bends the liquid flow from axial to radial, and ensures that the kinetic energy is transferred to the water surface.
