Ultrafiltration (UF) membrane systems
Wehrles ultrafiltration (UF) membrane systems can be used as a stand alone process to reduce the concentration of suspended materials, where appropriate, in a variety of industrial effluent treatment applications such as dairy, food, drink and chemicals processing. They are also an integral part of the company's membrane bioreactor (MBR) systems
Wehrles ultrafiltration (UF) membrane systems can be used as a stand alone process to reduce the concentration of suspended materials, where appropriate, in a variety of industrial effluent treatment applications such as dairy, food, drink and chemicals processing.
They are also an integral part of the company's membrane bioreactor (MBR) systems.
UF systems are designed as modular units, which can be extended with additional membrane modules to suit individual requirements.
A variety of configurations and materials are available, allowing the most technically appropriate and economical system to be created for each project. They typically retain solids and molecules larger than 0.02µm.
Effluent enters a stainless steel header system that feeds dedicated stainless steel recirculation pumps and the membrane modules that are arranged in series. Each UF module contains more than 350 polymeric membrane tubes that are 8mm diameter.
The effluent is pumped along the membrane surface at high velocity ensuring adequate turbulence, minimising membrane fouling and enhancing cleaning efficiencies.
Permeate is removed through the membrane wall, which provides an absolute barrier, producing permeate free from bacteria and suspended solids.
UF membrane systems can be supplied skid mounted for integration into existing buildings, or as stand-alone containerised system, which is pre-installed and tested prior to delivery to site to reduce installation and commissioning time.
