Dystor® gas holder systems have a distinctive design that is more economical to install than steel gas holders, and more versatile and stable than floating covers. It is suitable for both primary and secondary digesters, with a domed-shape that combines with an engineered membrane system to maximise storage of methane gas and sludge at the same time as containing odours.

The system includes two durable membranes. The outer membrane remains inflated in a fixed position and is cable restrained to ensure system integrity and allow operating pressures up to 16" w.c. An inner gas membrane moves freely as it stores or releases gas genereated from the anaerobic digestion process. The membranes are sealed tight to the digestion tank wall, which prevents odours from escaping.

An air handling system maintains a preset operating pressure between the two membranes and a fan supplies air to the air chamber when methane gas is withdrawn. A pressure air control valve vents air to accommodate increasing gas volumes, which automatically equalises the pressure in the system, keeping the outer membrane inflated and exerting a constant pressure on the stored gas.

Dystor® gas holders can be retrofitted to existing plants and set to fit with the operating pressure of existing equipment, which eliminates the need for re-ballasting the rest of the digestion system.
