SPN1 Sunshine Pyranometer measures global (total) and diffuse solar irradiance in W.m-2, using an array of thermopile sensors and a ground glass dome. Designed for long-term outdoor use, it calculates direct normal irradiance and sunshine duration without moving parts, shade rings or tracking and operates reliably in harsh climates down to -20°C.

  • Measures global and diffuse solar radiation with direct normal irradiance calculation

  • No moving parts, shade rings or motorised tracking required

  • Ground glass dome for outdoor durability

  • Internal heater keeps dome clear of dew, ice and snow

  • Analogue and digital outputs for data logging and monitoring

  • Easy installation with no need for polar alignment or routine adjustment

  • Sunshine duration estimated to within a few percent of WMO standard

Applications

  • Photovoltaic efficiency monitoring

  • Air pollution studies

  • Cloud cover research

  • Evapotranspiration and heat flux studies

  • Canopy analysis

  • Building energy management systems

Performance

WMO sunshine threshold: 120 W.m-2 direct beam

Operating temperature: down to -20°C (in still air)

Installation

No polar alignment or repositioning required
