A type of membrane filtration water treatment or pre-treatment technology, RO is used for the removal of dissolved solids and monovalent components such as chloride, and the separation of dissolved organic and inorganic constituents, including bacteria and viruses.

Typical applications include boiler feed, cleaning and rinse water treatment, and water purification and re-use in electronics / microelectronics, laboratory, food and drink, automotive industry, chemical / petrochemical and biotech processes.

Reverse osmosis is a chemical-free means of achieving water purity, and helps to ensure low energy consumption, reduced mains water consumption and reduced wastewater discharge.
