The Type 8232 chlorine sensor is an electrochemical sensor designed for the measurement of free chlorine concentration generated from inorganic sources, such as chlorine gas and sodium hypochlorite.
The electrolytes used in Type 8232 make it possible to carry out virtually pH-independent measurement of free chlorine content.
Different versions of the membrane-covered amperometric sensors are available, ensuring that they can be used in applications in which free chlorine can be measured down to very low concentrations.
In addition, the sensitivity of the membrane, with respect to blocking by biofilm formation, can be reduced drastically, which allows use in biocide-free water. A search for traces of chlorine, for example in the inlet stream of a reverse osmosis system, is therefore possible.
It is mounted in the separately available analytical measurement chamber and is typically used with the Type 8619 panel- or wall-mounted multiCELL transmitter / controller unit.
