Multiflo™ clarifiers with lamella settlers are used for the clarification and polishing of water and the treatment of wastewater. The Multiflo™ process combines coagulation, flocculation and counter-current lamella settling in a single unit.

The Multiflo™ series is ideal for small- to large-sized plants and can treat any kind of water characteristics and pollutant loads.

Applications

  • Surface water clarification
  • Polishing for drinking water
  • Carbonate removing and water softening
  • Seawater clarification
  • Urban wastewater purification
  • Stormwater treatment
  • Primary, secondary and tertiary wastewater treatment
  • Biofilter backwash treatment
  • Wastewater reuse

Key features

  • Flexible systems that can be adapted to meet requirements.
  • Consistent high water quality production.
  • Compact with large projected settling area.
  • Small footprint is 10 to 20 times less than that of conventional settlers.
  • Advanced control system for optimised chemical dosing.
  • Simple installation and operation.

Construction

Multiflo™ comprises a coagulation basin, a flocculation basin and a sedimentation tank with inclined lamella plates, all in the same unit. Modular sedimentation units can be installed side-by-side.

Process

1. Coagulation / flocculation stage: raw water and coagulant are fed to the coagulation basin, where organic matter and suspended solids precipitate to form microflocs. In the flocculation basin, polymers combine with the microflocs to form large, easily settled flocs.

2. Sedimentation stage: the flocculated water enters the bottom of the lamella settling tank. The water flows upward, in the opposite direction to the settling flocs, which are deposited along the lamella plates and settle under the effect of gravity.

3. Sludge removal: the sludge that accumulates in the bottom of the tank is regularly removed utilising either a suction draw-off or scraper mechanism.

Applications

Drinking water

Multiflo™ is an efficient process for removing total suspended solids (TSS), colour, algae and heavy metal co-precipitates for drinking water production.

Turbidity

Multiflo™ can treat water with an average to high turbidity level (10 - 4000mg/l TSS) and produces water with a turbidity of less than 3NTU, depending on the raw water characteristics.

Softening

In the Multiflo™ Softening version, clarified water is softened with the adding of lime or soda chemicals. It is used for carbonate removal and the softening of drinking water, process water and wastewater before reuse. Multiflo™ Softening is able to produce high concentration sludge, in the range of 60 to 100g/l.

Polishing

The Multiflo™ Carb version, with the use of powdered activated carbon, is capable of removing pesticides, organic matters and new emerging pollutants.

Wastewater treatment

Multiflo™ can also be installed as primary, secondary or tertiary treatment of wastewater and storm water for partial, normal or advanced removal of suspended solids, as well as carbonaceous pollutants and phosphorous.
