The slurry air mixing system is a simple and cost-efficient aeration system that is designed to keep stored sludge in a semi-liquid, hence pumpable condition, regardless of how long it has been in storage.

The introduction of air into the storage tank enables effective mixing due to the physical action of the rising air bubbles, and odour reduction due to the promotion of aerobic bacteria. The aerobic bacteria digest toxins, fatty acids and ammonia, and reduce the biological oxygen demand of the sludge.

The system has a low-energy electric motor and pump, electronic solenoid valves and a self-closing neoprene non-return outlet valve. The 1.5-inch piping is class-D U-PVC that will not degrade or corrode.

All working and electrical parts are mounted within a galvanised frame underneath a removable weatherproof hood at ground level.

Working on a time switch, the system is fully automatic and will typically run for two 1-hour periods each day without the need for intervention.
